Commuting back to work

Looks like I have been drawn to Eve again. After about two-three years of not playing (save a couple of months in 2010) I am ready to take another kick at the can.

I missioned a bit in my home base of Torrinos to try and get a feel for what has changed but so far it seems fairly similar in terms of PVE.

I also took a look at my inventories across the Galaxy hence the title of this blog. I noticed that I have two large secure containers in a station somewhere.. I cannot remember why. So I decided to fly the 26 jumps there and check it out. Hopefully they are not empty...

Came back thinking I should care bear for a while, you may remember that I was last seen killing in ransoming with the Bastards. Unfortunately two issues came up quickly:
1- no care bears corp in high sec will touch an ex pirate
2- while I enjoy the game play I really play Eve for its people.

I have always been insecure about the amount of money I made as a pirate but I am now realising that carebearing full time will only rot my soul. There is something to be said about running directly into dangers with fellow buccaneers. My worry is that since I don't have a trained alt, when my security status goes to hell I lose my access to my lvl agents in High sec.

So after 2-3 weeks of playing again I think I will approach the Bastards and see if they will take me again :) I was very happy to see that Flashfresh is still around and caught up on his blog, which was another reason I thought about rejoining.

The icing on the cake was a YouTube video of they drunken roam and hearing all the familiar voices applying their deadly trade with gusto. So once I check out those container I am heading to Evati and see if I get blown up or welcomed :)

To you Bastards

Wormwhole antic

First of all my apologies for leaving this blog empty so long. I was out of Eve for a while and was also not sure if I would keep playing but recent events have given me new resolve :)

So over the weekend I had the privilege of helping Mynx and the Hellcats open their first Wormhole POS. Over all it went rather well apart from Mynx who had to pull an all nighter to online everything. Kudos to her for setting up the POS in a very creative manner. pattern.

I spent last night scanning for WM with her and we found a few, included one that led to another WM. Once inside I scanned 2 Covetors and 2 Retrievers which made my mouth water. Unfortunately at this point Mynx could be of no help and since I was only in a Sabre I was worried I would run into a wall of warrior IIs.

Nevertheless I figured what the hell you only live once, scanned them down and charged in their mining OP. My goal was to trick them into a ransom since I did not think I could outlast all of them. So just before I landed I screamed in local : "30 millions and my buddies won't show up"

My well thought plan went to hell the second I landed as I was 75k from the group. Undeterred I MWDed toward them and watched in horror as one Covetor and one industrial warped away. For some reasons the rest kept on mining, oh well :)

Amazingly, none of the others tried to leave so I fired off an interdictor bubble and went to town.
The Covetor was first to pop while the Retrievers were locking me. I then popped one retriever and then the other quickly died as well.

Fortunately for them my bubble chose that exact moment to expire and I lost my chance to ransom the pods. One comment from a victim: "Your corp name suits you well" which when you think about it is probably the best compliment a Bastard can get.

I wish I could tell how epic the fight was etc. but keen observers will notice that NONE of these three ships had any offensive capabilities. Still, I got about 5 millions in modules.

So all in all a very good start for the Hellcats POS and I'm quite happy with drawing first blood for it. Hopefully the Bastards POS will show up soon so I an actually fit my ship.. .

Somehow tagged...

As the millions of people who read my blog might have noticed, it has not been updated since the first post.. So this means a 100% increase in production right now.

I was tagged by Flashfresh and now feel compelled to educate the masses a little bit more about myself..

So here we go. Similar to Shae Tiann , I don't know who else to tag so I left that out.

Rules:

  • Link to the original tagger(s), and list these rules on your blog.
  • Share 7 facts about myself in the post - some random, some weird.
  • Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
  • Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs and/or Twitter

Seven Facts about Dj Akula:

  1. I am not a DJ, never have been, never will be. Although I have great appreciation for the arts, I cannot do any of them.
  2. I was born in Montreal and my first language is French although I am fully bilingual. Well trilingual if you count the little Spanish I know.
  3. I tend to be very lazy outside of work so need coaxing to keep writing ;)
  4. I have been playing curling for 7 years and also coach a girl basketball team
  5. I love Tina Fey.
  6. I receive tens of chat requests daily on Messenger from unknown female admirers. Somehow they never answer me.
  7. I am hoping really hard that we get less snow than last year because I hate shoveling..

There we go.. hopefully next post won't be in 3 months :)

From yarring to erring

Three years of flying through the universe do take their toll on a man. At some point, one must identify what his real purpose is in order to live a satisfactory warrior's life.

After living through some Bob wars, fighting Goonswarm with CORM and then living the life of a vagabond with my corp through alliance space, I started thinking about what I really want to do. Given the limited flying time I usually get, it made no sense to continue waiting for hours for fleets to form. I was hoping that the faction war would be a good opportunity for someone like me to get some glory but my hopes were quickly dashed when I realized it only meant more waiting for more fleets to form.

Hence I decided to turn to the dark side and start pirating. My plan was simple, equip a nice thorax and hunt through Black Rise. Unfortunately, either from lack of hunting experience or guts, the amount of target to engage was extremely limited and I fell victim to a faction gang three weeks later. With only two kills and no money to show for it, it called for a different plan of attack.

I turned to high sec missioners ganking. I equipped my Brutix to the hilt, bought a scanning ships and started looking for prey in a high activity secure space. Ironically, while space always seems full of newbie CNR when I fly missions, I have yet to catch one in mission... and even when I eventually do, I don't know if they will make the mistake of engaging me after I toy with their wrecks.

But what i have learned so far is that a lot of people forget their drones.. so while I might be failing at yarring at least I am making some money finding tech Ii drones in the emptiness of space.

In the mean time.. back to my trustee CNR for some quick ISK to pay for that Brutix.. Hopefully as I get better at scanning I can move from err to yarr...

I can only hope that these pages will get better as I find success..
